Fund Development Research

The following weblinks will bring you to sites with searchable databases. Some of these are free, others charge fees.

Chronicle of Philanthropy
This national magazine on grants and giving has made its informative articles, a searchable guide to grants, and a host of other information available online. Some material is free, most requires a password. If you are already a subscriber to the Chronicle, you can ask for a password.

East Bay Funders Directory
This online directory is available via the CompassPoint website. Searching hint: if you’re looking for a particular family foundation and the search returns no results, try searching by the last name. For example, instead of typing in “Y&H Soda Foundation” in the search box, type in “Soda, Y&H.”

Foundation Center
Digest of fundraising news, grant maker information, an online library, and a marketplace of fundraising-related books, CD-ROM’s and seminars. [Download a listing of East Bay libraries that have access to the Foundation Center's grants database.]

Nonprofit Gateway
A network of links to Federal and state government information and services.
