Do you host casino nights to raise money? |

If so, you may want to comment on proposed regulations from the California Bureau of Gambling Control. The California Bureau of Gambling Control is proposing regulations to codify the law that went into effect last January (2007) regarding nonprofit organization fundraisers. The bureau will hold a public hearing on January 7, 2008, starting at 10 a.m. at the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 N. Market Boulevard, Ste. South 102, Sacramento. Written comments may be submitted no later than January 7, 2008 at 5 pm. In summary, the law does 3 things: limits the number of casino-type fundraisers to one per year, requires nonprofits to register those fundraisers with the Bureau of Gambling Control, and restricts the number of fundraisers allowed per location to four per year. The proposed regulations outline the registration process and other details required by the law. (Read the proposed regulations here.)
