General wisdom holds that volunteer solicitors and Board-led campaigns are the keys to successful fundraising. But how does development staff work most effectively with volunteers who are stretched for time and sometimes scared to ask for money? Our panel of two nonprofit development directors and one brave Board president will discuss the secret ingredients to building working partnerships between staff and Board in the fundraising process.

Loan Funds Overview

Loans are available to nonprofit organizations:
  • located in the Bay Area;
  • experiencing a cash flow problem;
  • waiting for a grant payment from a foundation; and/or
  • expecting a government contract reimbursement to be delayed.

Nonprofits may be eligible for up to $50,000
through a low interest, quick turnaround loan.

  • The Emergency Loan Fund is for Bay Area nonprofits, providing bridge loans up to $50,000 at 3% interest and companion technical assistance mini-grants of up to $5,000 to help build organizational capacity.   more >>
  • The Arts Loan Fund is for Bay Area arts & culture nonprofits and individual artists. It provides bridge loans for secured funds, benefits and performances and loans to support uncommon opportunities for growth. Loans range from $5,000 to $50,000 at 1% below prime interest.   more >>

Money Matters 2008: 7th Annual Nonprofit Finance Conference in Oakland on Sept. 10, 2008.
