Building the Leaderful Organizationdownload handouts
With Michelle Gislason, CompassPoint

CompassPoint research suggests that many executives experience burnout in their organizations due to lack of staff support and/or board support, and to feelings of isolation or “loneliness at the top”. Recently, CompassPoint has taken a closer look at “leaderful” organizations. These agencies are led by executives, who create organizational cultures, in which each staff member is supported to lead from wherever he or she sits in the agency. As a result, leadership is shared, burnout is reduced, and bench strength is created to ensure the organization continues beyond the current executive’s tenure. This session will explore steps for spreading leadership skills and responsibilities throughout organizations and moving away from heroic, self-sacrificing leadership.

Collaborations: Why Some Fail and Others Succeed download handouts
With Dr. Diane Johnson, Mmapeu Consulting

This dynamic and highly interactive workshop is focused on the components of effective and impactful collaborations. Why do they seem so challenging? What do we need to consider? What do the "authentic" collaborations require of our organizations, our boards and our staffs.  This workshop is for practitioners interested in building partnerships that can get to implementation, as well as move towards sustainability.

SESSION 3   3:00 – 4:30

Building a Personal Leadership Network download handouts
With Rich Snowdon, Life Coach

You don't have to be lonely at the top. What if you could have your own success team? Not an advisory board for your organization, but people who are there to support you. In our "heroic" nonprofit culture, leaders rarely ask for what they really need. So in this session we'll focus on a special way of asking. It's a mix of moxie and deep connection. We're betting that you already know a lot about this. And that once you've got your team in place, you'll never go back to solo leadership.

Leading Across Generations
With Dr. Joe Mattox, Workplace Innovation Consultants

This learning session will provide an overview of the challenges and issues associated with having four different generations working side by side in the workplace. You will explore the conflicts that arise from different working styles and expectations, and learn about techniques to leverage the talents of staff members from different generations to develop a productive and congenial work environment.

The Power of Partnership: The Board Chair/ED Team download handouts
With Liz Callahan, The CBO Center

There is no more important team for a nonprofit organization than the partnership between the executive director and board chair. What if you could reframe your relationship with your board chair into one that is an exciting, powerful, effective, and satisfying partnership? In this session you will explore a process for clarifying what success will look like in your partnership, creating agreements on how to resolve conflict or disagreements, and appreciating the strengths of each partner, in order to better serve your organization.

Partnering with Donors as Active Investors
Panel moderator Kathleen Odne, Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation; with Vanessa Pierce, Tipping Point Community; Jane Lin, Tides Foundation; Jeff Camp, Full Circle Fund.

Successful entrepreneurs who consider themselves venture philanthropists are changing the relationship between donors and agencies. Along with financial gifts, these donors work hands-on with nonprofit boards and staff on strategy and program impact. Panel members will discuss how you can attract and partner with these active philanthropic investors.

  • For nonprofits working in the education arena, the Full Circle Fund Education IMPACT GUIDE puts in perspective the ideas that compete for your focus. Available for free download at www.fullcirclefund.org/education.php
