Building the Leaderful Organization With Michelle Gislason, CompassPoint CompassPoint research suggests that many executives experience burnout in their organizations due to lack of staff support and/or board support, and to feelings of isolation or “loneliness at the top”. Recently, CompassPoint has taken a closer look at “leaderful” organizations. These agencies are led by executives, who create organizational cultures, in which each staff member is supported to lead from wherever he or she sits in the agency. As a result, leadership is shared, burnout is reduced, and bench strength is created to ensure the organization continues beyond the current executive’s tenure. This session will explore steps for spreading leadership skills and responsibilities throughout organizations and moving away from heroic, self-sacrificing leadership. Successful Board/Staff Fundraising Conversation facilitated by Bob Zimmerman, Zimmerman-Lehman; with Suzan Bateson and Beth Sawi, Alameda County Community Food Bank What does it take to create a high performing fundraising team involving board members and senior staff?
